My spring bulb flowers are done blooming. The weather has gotten cold again. I guess it is just April still! We have finished our travels, visiting our married children and grandchildren. We are now all set for the summer and their visits. We purposely don't travel during the beach season, due to heavy traffic. I've been entertained by the squirrels and birds in our backyard. (No hummingbirds yet! They must know it's cold out.)
Before a bird chooses a birdhouse, they perch on top and look all around to make sure it's safe (I suspect that's why!). These sparrows are not native to our country and they are not protected by law. They are mean and actually kill bluebirds. They also do much damage to farmer's crops. This is a bluebird box. The bluebirds start building a nest and the sparrows chase them away. I've tried to knock out the sparrow nests but they just keep coming back, especially if they see a bluebird trying!
